[Chances are, when you enter room 1202 of the Prosecutor's Office, you'll find High Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth hard at work. He learned the hard way not to be too quick to throw people out when they interrupt him, so as annoyed as he probably will be once he notices your presence, you'll more likely than not get a sufficient chance to justify yourself. Usually.]

[To help clarify the purpose of this post, this is someplace anyone can come tag me if they want -- just start a thread and specify Canonworth, TVKworth, or any other preference! Canons, AUs, OCs, and canon OCs welcome, both AA and non-AA!]

I can provide you with the addresses of certain people who've stonewalled me in the past as a starting point.

That'd be a big help, yeah. And, ah...I'm sorry if the way I'm going about this seems kind of dirty. I'd be doing it completely differently if the situation didn't seem tough enough that I doubted I could afford to pull punches for the sake of fair play.

Your methods do seem questionable, but I see no more legitimate alternative. Furthermore, though I loathe to admit this, ultimately this investigation is extralegal -- we're looking into government officials concerning charges that the native justice system of this world is incapable of handling or even conceiving of for long.

[temptestament]

I know how you feel. It'd be a lot simpler and leave less of a bad taste in my mouth if we could just explain to the Federation committee what was going on and get their support that way instead of getting called crazy at best or causing mass panic at worst. Both of the situations are things that leave no choice but to handle them behind people's backs.

[truthsnomiracle]

I don't know that that's necessarily entirely true in your case, but I'm not among those here who are well-equipped to engage you in that particular debate. In any case, I would rather focus on the problem at hand.

[temptestament]

I'll take care of it, don't worry. Can you point me in the direction of the government buildings here?

*He stands up, fading to the same translucent appearance he had when he walked in.*

I could share the addresses I mentioned earlier and associated names if it would be of aid, though I doubt that you'd have much time to make use of them today if you intend to focus on the government this evening.

Yeah, I'm going to look into those tomorrow. I can't actually be in two places at once, after all.

*And with that, he vanishes completely. A few hours later, Edgeworth will get a firm but polite knock on his door.*

[And a very tired-looking Edgeworth answers it, only to bow and step aside.]

Just walking in seemed like a pretty rude way to interrupt someone.

*He walks in but, just his luck, manages to close the door a bit too fast behind him, leading to it closing on his cape. This leads to him coming to an abrupt and unpleasant stop.*

Ack!

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth looks concerned for a moment, but once it's clear that his visitor's not about to fall over, simply opens the door again long enough to allow the cape to fall into place.]

Perhaps you need to use doors more often.

[temptestament]

*He grumbles as he brushes the cape back down to the ground.*

Excuse me for not usually having a lot of reason to use doors when most of the people who even see me are used to me just teleporting in...

Anyway, I presume you've finished for the moment.

Sort of.

*Dry tone is dry.*

He wasn't in the office today. Something or other about important business somewhere else.

[truthsnomiracle]

Hm. A pity. I could probably pull some strings to learn when he's due to return, but it's questionable how long you can afford to stay.

[temptestament]

If we're lucky, we won't have to wait long. But I'll spend tomorrow looking into the other people you mentioned.

[truthsnomiracle]

Thank you. As for myself, I should return to the hotel and sleep until the Dark Hour draws near.

[temptestament]

You do sound tired. I think I'll spend the rest of the evening looking around the city.

*His appearance shifts, cape and mask giving way to more normal, if somewhat dated looking, clothes. Instead of Allen, Edgeworth will see a fair skinned man with short, slightly ruffled blue hair and light brown eyes.*

[truthsnomiracle]

[Not that the little details pointing to this really being a version of Allen haven't already piled up by this point anyway -- to say nothing of Edgeworth knowing full well between what both Allens have said that a Testament could look like anything he wants in the first place, so this appearance disproves nothing.]

We should meet again close to midnight, preferably neither too close to the hotel nor to the building that transforms into the dungeon.

*A miniature, vaguely see-thru model of the city's basic structure appears floating between them. It's missing a lot of details, things someone would have to actively pay attention to the city itself to be aware of, but it has enough detail for someone who knows the city to recognize landmarks.*

I see you've done more reconnaissance than I realized. Indoor areas are safest, but unfortunately most are closed and locked by the Dark Hour. I wonder whether Miss Nakagawa's teahouse is yet sufficiently built to provide shelter...
