[Chances are, when you enter room 1202 of the Prosecutor's Office, you'll find High Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth hard at work. He learned the hard way not to be too quick to throw people out when they interrupt him, so as annoyed as he probably will be once he notices your presence, you'll more likely than not get a sufficient chance to justify yourself. Usually.]

[To help clarify the purpose of this post, this is someplace anyone can come tag me if they want -- just start a thread and specify Canonworth, TVKworth, or any other preference! Canons, AUs, OCs, and canon OCs welcome, both AA and non-AA!]

[Edgeworth's eyes grow wide at that. After having seen what Albedo is capable of at his worst, the idea of someone that much worse is disturbing.]

Yeah. He's...definitely not someone you'd want to willingly associate with.

Were you forced or tricked into your own position, then?

I didn't know about him when I accepted the offer. But even if I did, someone had to take the job...and not many people qualify.

[truthsnomiracle]

(That begs the question of why he believed acceptance of the offer to be that important, but that could quickly lead into an argument I'm underqualified to participate in.)

Hmmm... Anyway, it shouldn't be much longer before Shadows reach this area.

*He nods and turns his attention back out the window, glancing up and down the street.*

And they attack anyone that draws their attention?

Indeed so. Furthermore, they vary in power, and different kinds have different strengths and weaknesses. Some varieties are entirely immune to physical attacks. Fortunately, I should be able to determine most traits of any Shadow who takes note of us, and the database should reveal the rest.

It really is like fighting Gnosis, then...do debilitating effects work on them?

Indeed, though I've heard complaints concerning the unreliability of such methods.

[Read, Vriska whining about the 50% proc rate of Marin Karin on the network several times...]

Well, it's better than nothing...

Agreed.

[There's some movement in the distance outside by now, centered in the north. Edgeworth lowers himself to a crouch; Forneus follows, hovering only a foot about the ground to his counterpart's right.]

*Allen edges toward the side of the window, dipping his crossbow down so that the glowing tip isn't visible from outside. He won't say anything, just watch for the Shadows to get closer...*

[truthsnomiracle]

[A trio of bright pink, hand-like Shadows with masked heads where the wrists ought to be wander in the distance. Edgeworth crawls to Allen's side, Forneus taking a position behind the pair of them. With a lowered voice, the prosecutor begins to explain.]

That species is known as the Dancing Hand. Some have an affinity for fire while others do ice; this is where Forneus's capabilities grow particularly important.
