[Chances are, when you enter room 1202 of the Prosecutor's Office, you'll find High Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth hard at work. He learned the hard way not to be too quick to throw people out when they interrupt him, so as annoyed as he probably will be once he notices your presence, you'll more likely than not get a sufficient chance to justify yourself. Usually.]

[To help clarify the purpose of this post, this is someplace anyone can come tag me if they want -- just start a thread and specify Canonworth, TVKworth, or any other preference! Canons, AUs, OCs, and canon OCs welcome, both AA and non-AA!]

[During the trip down, Edgeworth grips the guard rail with one hand hard enough that his knuckles turn white and pointedly looks away from Akira in a transparent attempt to keep his weakness from being too obvious. He heaves a large sigh of relief as he steps out after the boy.]

[Of course, Akira notices it, but he's been in the whole 'hiding weakness' situation before -- he had made it a point to not look at Edgeworth as well, as if he didn't notice a thing.

A quick look around assures him that this place is clear -- not like it would've been hard to figure that out, seeing as they weren't exactly subtle when it came down to it.]

Guess they didn't wanna come in here.

We should head down into the parking garage. Using my car to go to the hotel should make any unwanted encounters easier to avoid.

[flowing_kinetics]

[Oh, right, people do use cars rather than walk everywhere, don't they? Akira blinks a little, but hooks his fingers in the sleeves of his jacket -- lacking the pockets to shove his hands in for now -- and drops into step beside Edgeworth.]

Sounds good to me.

[And down some mercifully clean steps they go into the small underground parking lot, and through that to a simple red sports car. Edgeworth unlocks and then opens the back door for Akira.]

It would be easier to duck in these seats, should it prove necessary.

[Surprisingly, even Akira knows the wisdom of discretion at times. He starts to get in, pauses, then unties his jacket before doing so, putting it on his lap. Seems he remembers how you flipped out about your couch to the point of trying to be considerate. Who knew?]

Don't remember the hotel name, but it ain't exactly hard to figure out which one a buncha orphan kids are in, right?

The question of the hour: a roach hotel or TVK's own suspiciously-convenient Bay View Hotel?

Indeed, I know precisely which way to go.

[With that, Edgeworth unlocks the door to the driver's seat, slides in, starts the car up, and pulls out of the garage.]

Taeko would try for the best she could afford, so I'd say Bay View!

[Good, because he's really not all that great at giving directions. Akira falls surprisingly quiet as they start out, leaning on the door to watch the city go by as Edgeworth drives.]

...This place is real different.

(Has he been here for more than a day yet, I wonder?)

Faster. More people. Ain't as small. Lots of thoughts 'round here worse'n those back home.

[He pauses, then as an almost afterthought:]

No old robot under a park, either.

[That afterthought shocks Edgeworth enough to make him accidentally slow down a little, prompting another car to honk at him in protest.]

Giant ancient robot named Buriki Daioh was under the city. Frienda mine, Toei, he found it. Dunno where it came from, but he stuck it under the park.

[Spoken ever so casually, as if giant mechas are normal for him.]

I'd show ya, but I don't want that fish thing attackin' me again.

[A certain short-lived incident in this very city comes to mind right away...]

...I see. I... suppose that sort of thing isn't entirely unfamiliar to me.

I, er, wouldn't think it wise to distract the driver of a vehicle with such... contact to begin with.

Well I didn't mean right now.

[Geeze, Edgeworth, you think he's stupid or something?]

But you've seen 'em too?

Perhaps not precisely the same thing, but something similar was brought here once. It was quickly confiscated, however.

Dunno how you can confiscate somethin' that's bigger'n a blimp, so prolly not.

[He shifts a bit, fidgeting somewhat, though it looks more like it's out of pent up energy than any uncomfortableness. He lets the silence hang a bit, then...]

So do you work for the government or somethin'?

I don't know how it was taken myself; I was merely relieved to learn that it had been.

I'm a public prosecutor. [So not any branch of government powerful enough to be a threat, at least.]

[Akira doesn't seem aggressive or worried, more just curious.]

Just wonderin'. I ain't afraid of you or anythin', you're a good guy. Just seems to be a lot different here and I was wonderin' if I should be lookin' out for another gang like the Crusaders.

There are individuals we should be wary of, though we as a community have them tracked in order to limit their ability to act freely.

The circumstances of your arrival seem to differ from the norm, given that your usual abilities are intact and you apparently arrived in a group.

Indeed. Furthermore, this is happening on a large scale, and space and time appear to be no barrier to the kidnappers. However, those kidnapped also possess the potential to awaken a Persona.

[Edgeworth parallel parks just across the street from the Bay View Hotel.]

[flowing_kinetics]

[Okay, that's really familiar and Akira suddenly looks far more uncomfortable.]

Shit.

[This is not something he wanted to deal with, thanks. Akira slides out of the car once it stops, tying his coat around his waist again, though he fumbles a bit this time, clearly distracted.]

[Edgeworth climbs out himself, then locks the doors.]

Do you remember how it is that you all arrived here? Given that your situation is apparently unusual, perhaps we can learn something new about the case.

Like anyone else comin' in normally.

[That's... not at all helpful, but it seems like he's not intentionally being vague. He takes a quick look around the outside for anything unusual, finds nothing, and seems satisfied, heading for the doors inside fairly quickly.]
