[open RP meme] The "pester Edgeworth in his office" post, Dreamwidth edition
[Chances are, when you enter room 1202 of the Prosecutor's Office, you'll find High Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth hard at work. He learned the hard way not to be too quick to throw people out when they interrupt him, so as annoyed as he probably will be once he notices your presence, you'll more likely than not get a sufficient chance to justify yourself. Usually.]

Then you may have been in even greater danger than you realized and be in still more now. You and your friends shouldn't tarry here.
[Edgeworth rapidly climbs to the second floor...]

[And he's following right behind Edgeworth, hands hooked on his jacket.]
Ain't nothin' there. I've looked around, couldn't find a damn thing. Just quiet and everyone gone.
[Let's see, no, no... Ah, there it is. Akira stops at one of the doors.]

The Dark Hour is more dangerous here, but the Shadows aren't the danger that I refer to. Rather, there are certain individuals in high positions who may find you to be a threat to whatever they're trying to accomplish through this island.
Kaori has no art, so autoing go!
[There's a faint "Come in" from inside and Akira pushes the door open, quickly crossing the floor to the bed in the room.
In said bed is a little girl with brown hair, certainly no older than maybe 11. She doesn't look very healthy, pale skin and very skinny, but her eyes light up as he comes to a stop beside her bed, kneeling down to lead on it and come roughly eye level with her.]
Big brother!
Hey, Kaori. Sorry I'm late.
...You were getting into a fight again, weren't you?
[There was the slightest of winces from the teen, but thankfully Edgeworth's presence saved him from further interrogation as Kaori's eyes lit up just noticing him.]
Oh! Did you make a friend?
Well, sorta.

Miles Edgeworth.

Nice to meet you, Mr. Edgeworth.
[Despite the fairly uncomfortable look of his position, Akira seems content, shifting only to glance over at the prosector himself.]
He wanted to come talk to you for somethin'.
Oh, okay. What is it?

Truth about... this place? What's wrong with it?
I'unno. Think it has somethin' to do with that weird greenish time thing I told you 'bout, though.

The hell's a Shadow?

Unfortunately, they're little-understood. Given a certain event several months ago that I first appeared in the midst of, it's been suggested that they may be linked to denied aspects of the natives, but we have no way to verify such a thing.
[The prosecutor hands over the phone, which is now open to Atsuro's Shadow Database.]

Look sorta like those weird things back in that castle-time. Or remind me of 'em, at least. Same kinda monster look to 'em. Lemme guess, they bite pretty hard?

[He did notice that, but he still doesn't look too worried.]
'less they're immune to fire and ice too, I ain't got anythin' to worry 'bout.

Fortunately, yes.

The Crusaders, working for the government, were kidnapping people in the city to haul off to liquefy -- knowing that it's probably different over here, he adds that it is fairly common, but usually voluntary, seeing as it's irreversible and generally a last-ditch effort for some people to save their lives. In this case, the people being melted down were all used as a literal lake as an offering to a god. Akira's friend Matsu sacrificed himself so that he could save Akira and his sister when the Crusaders lit the orphanage on fire by overdosing on a special drug that gives psychic powers, enough to let him pilot the old mech Akira mentioned earlier, Buriki Daioh -- unfortunately, this meant Matsu was down right after that. Rather than letting it to go to waste, Akira merged his mind with Matsu's and used both their powers to move the mech and take down said god before it could kill anyone else.
It was after this that Akira heard a strange voice talking to him and found himself in a black void. After wandering out of it, he arrived in some world which -- by the sound of his description -- appeared to be some sort of medieval world. Turns out the old god was an avatar of a demon in that time named Odio, who had slaughtered everyone there and wanted to do the same to him and the others he had brought there. They won, of course, but it hadn't been without their own hardships; that demon was once human and he gave them a cryptic, threatening warning that anyone could take up the mantle like he did, if they chose to.
Akira's explanation is fairly calm, though his voice hesitates when he speaks about Matsu and rises in a mix of anger and pity when he speaks about Odio.]
...and that's about it.

(This tale is... strange, to say the least. If not for some of what I've seen and been forced to face since my arrival, I would say impossible. That being said, some developments he speaks of casually seem out of place for this world, unless...)
Forgive me if this seems like a strange question, but is 2012 the most advanced year you've experienced?

You think we got time-jacked again?
no subject
(The fact that they've been taken in such a way before does present another possibility, however. Perhaps I was wrong to assume that he was native...)
Have you always noticed the Dark Hour?
no subject
No. Only started seeing it once we came over here, on the way to this city.
None of us see it, but I know my big brother never lies, so I always believe him.
...Yeah. You do.

(The only common point I see here is that we were on Prospero beforehand and his awareness began as he drew near, yet exposure to the vicinity of Prospero can't be the entire cause of our awareness given that most natives are blind to the Dark Hour.)
no subject
I ain't ever seen it 'til we came here, so I dunno.
