[Chances are, when you enter room 1202 of the Prosecutor's Office, you'll find High Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth hard at work. He learned the hard way not to be too quick to throw people out when they interrupt him, so as annoyed as he probably will be once he notices your presence, you'll more likely than not get a sufficient chance to justify yourself. Usually.]

[To help clarify the purpose of this post, this is someplace anyone can come tag me if they want -- just start a thread and specify Canonworth, TVKworth, or any other preference! Canons, AUs, OCs, and canon OCs welcome, both AA and non-AA!]

[Edgeworth sighs and frowns.] (Perhaps I ought to nap after finishing my own tea, if my observational skills are suffering to this degree.)

More properly called rotini. Those should suffice.

It's okay, I was being pretty vague.

[Kay seems to be enjoying herself at the stove, still humming and then even dancing a little.]

A Great Thief is always prepared!

Apparently so.

[Edgeworth, meanwhile, is as solemn about his tea-making as he can muster in his condition. After grabbing his handkerchief again briefly to cough into it, he pours water into his own tea and sets the egg timer for it.]

I couldn't find any Steel Samurai noodles, though. I wonder how those'd look like...spears and masks and topknots...

[She isn't even looking at him, but focusing on her masterpiece. I mean, soup.]

(Then you weren't looking in the right place. Though I can't say that the idea of having to find some use for the low-grade powdered cheese sauce that would come in the same package is appealing...)

[Edgeworth heads out of the room to go through several tissues again while the tea is steeping.]

[Excuse you, Edgeworth. Kay didn't have a lot of time on her hands to search the grocery stores.

She hears his footsteps, but doesn't turn to look at him. Instead, she keeps cooking until the kitchen is full of the lovely aroma of Great Thief-style chicken soup.]

[truthsnomiracle]

[A shame that even after he's finished blowing his nose and returns, he can't really smell it. Edgeworth soon busies himself with setting bowls and spoons on the island in the middle of the kitchen, pausing frequently to turn away to cough or sneeze. He then fetches a box of tissues that he sets on the side of the island he's apparently claiming as his.]

It should be ready...in a couple of minutes.

[Kay continues stirring.]

I bet you never thought a Great Thief like me could cook too!

[truthsnomiracle]

It merely goes to show that you haven't neglected necessary skills in the process.

[Edgeworth suddenly rushes his handkerchief to his mouth as a coughing fit comes on.]

[yatagarasu]

[She frowns in worry when she glances at him coughing.]

Of course it's necessary! Maybe I could cook up something that'll make people confess their secrets!

[...wat.]

Kay, it's highly unlikely that mere food would act as an effective bribe -- except perhaps in Detective Gumshoe's case, and he hardly needs to be bribed for him to leak like a sieve.

What if it was more than just food? What if it was something in the food?

...

Yes! It's done!

[truthsnomiracle]

Then you would cause me to think twice about sampling this.

[Never too sick to snark, apparently.]

H-hey! After all the hard work I put into this?

["This" being the steaming pot of soup she's ladling into a large serving bowl.]

So long as it's uncontaminated, turning down a lady's offer --

[Edgeworth turns away suddenly and raises his handkerchief to his nose.]

ACHOO! ...would be unbecoming of me. *sniff*

The only time my soup will be contaminated is when you sneeze into it.

[Kay brings that big bowl to the island as carefully as she can, and sets it down in the middle, ladle and all.

And she didn't spill a single drop.]

Then I won't get to have any.

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth grins and seats himself at the side of the island with the tissues, then serves himself.]

For that matter, that concern is one reason why it would be foolish to actually suspect foul play.

Speaking of foul play...some of the people who were sacrificed were actually poisoned before their bodies were sunk into the lake.

[Kay plops into the other chair but doesn't help herself just yet.]

[truthsnomiracle]

[Well, so much for relaxing.]

I presume that the autopsy reports were among the materials you brought here?

[yatagarasu]

Of course!

[Kay jumps up barely moments after settling in her chair, then quickly leaves to grab the documents she had left in the living room. Or living area. Whatever.

When she returns, her arms are full of papers that she places next to her.]

Autopsy reports, copies of our testimonies, old reports on the people who went missing and were sacrificed...

[truthsnomiracle]

Excellent. [*sniff*] While I believe I need to rest before I can work efficiently, I look forward to learning just how this cult has engineered its own downfall.

[Edgeworth clears his throat, coughs into his handkerchief again, then stirs his soup and finally begins to sip at it.]

[yatagarasu]

Duh, 'course you do! I'm not telling you to go over these right now!

[Kay grabs the ladle and takes some of her soup, with extra noodles.]

Anyway, some were poisoned, others were actually stabbed...around only a fourth of the victims died by drowning. None of them were wearing the necklaces or seemed to be connected to the cult in any way.

[She pauses, spoon halfway to her mouth.]

...you know, if it weren't for that guy who tried to sacrifice me, we wouldn't have learned anything about the lake they're so dedicated to.

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth eats as Kay speaks, chewing and swallowing a vegetable-heavy spoonful before responding.]

Hmph. Perhaps their delusions ascribe different purposes and meanings to different murder methods in the name of that statue.

[Edgeworth hesitates at Kay's later statement.] ...I'm well aware.

[yatagarasu]

[Kay is silent for a while as she starts on her bowl. After a few spoonfuls, she pauses again to twirl her spoon while talking.]

You saw that statue too, huh? I think they're gonna check that out too, just in case.
