[The Shadow of the month was The World, and accordingly the artificial island city of Prospero had become very crowded. The number of apparent kidnappees had at least tripled in a day, yet most of the newcomers seemed prone to disappearing just as quickly, creating a sort of rotating roster of new faces. Many people on the network displayed excitement at seeing loved ones, then hurt at them being torn away.

For Edgeworth's part, there was one person in particular he hoped to have the opportunity to meet while this Shadow's influence made the possibility far more likely, even if it would be fleeting. He'd even gone so far as to call in sick so that he could search for her actively rather than just watching for any posts on the network. After all, there was something important he needed to say to her...]

[Maya herself was not as disoriented as one would expect (having gone through a kidnapping before and gotten suitable time to adjust to her surroundings. (Weird, weird, so weird, but she was determined to investigate first and not give in to the urge to panic)]

[She'd find them in time. (Although she might need money for that...) Maya, naturally, didn't notice him until he came right up to her and called her name. For a second she paused (Edgeworth was here!?), but then her face lit up excitedly at the sight of someone familiar]

Mr. Edgeworth! You're here!

That I am. In fact, from my own perspective I've been here for months. Given the current situation, however, it's possible that you in particular won't be trapped for very long.

Ah yes, that reminds me. What was the last case you saw me involved in? (Given the positive reaction, she must have experienced my own trial at the absolute least. However, if she hasn't seen me at Hazakura Temple, then it grows more difficult to say my piece.)

(That narrows down the possibilities. She could be referring to either of the last two cases that involved us both.) Was Wright any more specific than that?

We've both been taken to an island city known as Prospero. I've been here for some time and speculate that I'll find myself remaining for some time longer. Your own continued presence here, however, is not a guarantee under the current circumstances.

I'm still working to determine the answer to your first and last questions. As for the second, time and space are no barriers to the kidnappers. Currently, however, their methods appear to have gone awry; many more kidnappees have appeared, and yet the presence of most of the new faces has been fleeting. Given those circumstances, we may not have much time.
